Hope

For the first time since the Clinton years, I had a feeling other than trepidation when I cast my ballot: I felt HOPE.

Is Obama the best man for the job? I don't know. He's inexperienced and idealistic, but he gives us something the other guys don't: HOPE.

Do I think he'll be able to turn around our country's downward spiral? I don't know, but I HOPE.

I'm proud that finally, my country put a black man and a woman on the ballet for the highest office in the country. I wouldn't have been happy with a McCain/Palin win, but just the fact that a woman was up for election gave me HOPE.

Will Obama follow in the footsteps of Clinton and govern to the center? Will a Democratic majority be able to reach across the aisle and work together to fix our problems? I kind of doubt it, but I can HOPE.

It's time that we learn from our past mistakes and look toward our future. A future where the color of a person's skin or their gender no longer matters; anyone who is qualified may be President. I HOPE.

And I still have HOPE that my country will once again be respected and seen as the greatest country in the world. It's powerful, that feeling. That feeling of HOPE.
