Learning a new skill

Will has been teaching digital photography. While I think I have a pretty decent eye, there is so much to learn. So much technical stuff that I don't really understand yet. F-stop, aperture, ISO, etc. I confess, I really don't have a clue what I'm doing, but it's fun to try and take shots that at least look nice. I'm mostly working on using ambient light, since lighting confuses the hell out of me. As a model, I know how to use the light to my advantage but as a photographer...ummm....

I may or may not ever become a studio photographer. If I ever get to the point where I understand the mechanics of lighting and know how to create a scene, maybe. But right now, I'm enjoying learning how to just take pictures. I even get some good ones, lol.

I uploaded some from our recent trip to Nashville and the Birmingham Botanical Gardens to my Flikr page if anyone's interested in looking.

Nice photos.

And how did you like your visit to Her?

I really enjoyed it. Never say never, but it may be the closest I'll ever get to visiting the real Parthenon. I didn't feel anything, other than an appreciation for the art presented.

Not like when I visit the Mesopotamian wing at the NY Metropolitan Museum of Art. There, you can FEEL the energy vibrations coming off the cuneiform tablets and the lammasu. It's truly amazing.

Oh hey,

We might be coming to Atlanta on the 27th for the Pagan Marketplace

Any chance you're going to be around?

As a matter of fact I was planning on being there. I vaguely know one of the organizers. It winds up about 7:00PM. If you want, we could do supper after the event closes, or even earlier if you need to think about heading back to B'ham. There's a decent Greek/Italian restaurant one exit east from the park. Or there's Shoneys or Cracker Barrel or fast food.

I hope to be able to make it, but doubt we'll stay until the end. I'll let you know during the week.
