IIRC, when Lark started drawing her Social Security retirement money, her letter about the password showed up before her notification letter, too.
What I think is happening is that there is a two-step process:
Step 1 - Determine if applicant is entitled to benefits. If applicant is entitled to benefits, proceed to step 2.
Step 2 - Calculate amount of initial monthly benefit, then generate notification letter.
The government being the government, step 1 and step 2 are performed by different offices. The act of transmitting the information from the step 1 office to the step 2 office also triggers release of the letter you received.
BTW, if I wind up getting a job at Fort Hood in the next 90 days or so, I'm going to be some steamed if you immediately move to Alabama.
