I totally get that. I'm grateful for my hair, too. It's naturally fine and wavy, and can become easily tangled. That tangle-prone hair drove my mom to distraction when I was little, and at her urging, I got it chopped off short when I was 8 (hated it), and then got it permed when I was 10. I continued to get it permed until my hairdresser tried a new perm solution on me, and it fried my hair. This was before I started grad school. I went to a new hairdresser at the semester break, and she told me that if she permed my hair, it would break off. She suggested chopping off about six inches and wearing it straight. I did so. I missed my long hair, though, so I eventually let it grow out again. Now, it's long, wavy, and rather lush, even if it IS still somewhat fine and tangle-prone. But it's not fried, and it's not short! I'm happy. :)
