I completely forgot that I have a dreamwidth account. Duh. So now I'm crossposting here and LJ with the occasionaly FB feed.

Anyway, on to the gratitude project posts.

Aug 29: It's kind of hard to find gratitude when you're lying in bed, down with the creeping crud. So, I'm grateful to Will for making the whole house wireless, so I can peruse the 'net from the comfort of my bed.

Aug 30: I'm grateful for discovering the secret to getting my bread dough to rise: Canning. The AC keeps the kitchen too cool for a proper rising and even putting the dough in the oven doesn't help. While my bread hasn't been particularly bad, it's been denser than I wanted it. I was making pickles today, so the kitchen had more heat in it than usual. Today's batch came out fluffier, but I still need to do some tweaking.

Try putting a pan of boiling hot water on the oven shelf (or floor of the oven) below the rising dough. It will provide the necessary heat and moisture for a perfect rise. Cover the dough as per usual.
