All of my cars have had names. My first car was a 65 Rambler dubbed Daisy, which had first belonged to my mother. Then there was Beercan, my little 78 Honda Civic; Rollergirl (pre-"Boogie Nights", the 84 Honda CRX. My little Mitsubishi was dubbed Newton by my late stepmother. My first "nice" car was Hunter, the green Grand Am. The Kia Sportage was Ripley, after the Aliens ass-kicker.

The minivan hasn't named itself yet. It will, when the time is right.

::smile::

My first car was a 1964 Rambler Rebel station wagon, named Jonah Hex (after the comic book and now upcoming movie).

Did you LOVE your Rambler? I loved mine. She was an awesome car; rarely did she need repairs, took regular leaded gas (when it was still available an .89/gallon) and fit 10 of my friends. BEST car I ever had, even though it was a beast to parallel park that boat when I went into NYC. No power steering or power brakes, but I learned how to maneuver in city traffic and having to learn like that has kept me safe and sane in the years since having her.

This is a pic of same car: Image although mine was an emerald green that had faded to teal. I STILL can't believe my mother sold her for $500...she was a CLASSIC and could have been restored easily.

I absolutely loved that car, but finally sold it as I was tired of replacing the transmission every year (design flaw that was used in that model year only).

It was kind of quirky; while the inside door handles worked just fine, it wouldn't let a woman open the outside handle - I had to open it for her. It was quite the Southern Gentleman!

Not all of my vehicles have told me their names. I had a rather *koff* eclectic-looking 1970 Beetle named Duncan the Latin Gigolo, and another Beetle named Jasper the Gasper (I had to push start it a lot).

My current car, a '95 Honda Accord with 223k miles on her that I bought new, is called The Old Girl. My bike (I'm embarrassed to admit) says her name is Gidget.
